Once, there were twenty-three Shaker villages. Today, Sabbathday Lake is the only active village. At their height, there were between 2,000 and 4,000 Shakers. Now, there are two: Sister June and Brother Arnold. But, if you go to the Shakers’ public Sunday meeting, you will meet a group of people who worship with the Shakers, but are not Shakers.
